VACANCY
A vacancy for the post of Director General exists at the Board of External Trade.Suitably qualified applicants are invited to apply bearing in mind the criteria stated here below:-
1. Principal Duties and Responsibilities:
1.1 He/She is the Chief Executive Officer responsible for execution of the decisions and policies of the Board of Directors.
1.2 Formulates and recommends to the Board of Directors overall policies, objectives, long and short term plans, strategies and action programmes for the organization.
1.3 Initiates, develops and recommends to the Government inputs of External Trade Policy and ensures co-ordination of BET activities with other stakeholder organizations within the country and abroad.
1.4 Provides overall direction, motivation and guidance to BET staff to obtain maximum co-operation and support essential for the efficient and effective implementation of the objectives and plans of BET.
1.5 Demonstrates effective sourcing, utilization and management of resources through competent leadership, creation and enhancement of a supportive working environment for the implementation of budgetary planning, management, monitoring, review and control.
1.6 Projects a good image of BET to the general public and creates confidence, trust and goodwill towards BET.
2. Entry Requirements:
A University degree in Economics, Commerce or Business Administration preferably with a post graduate training in fields related to export marketing or export development. The candidate should possess tangible extensive working experience in relevant senior executive positions.
3. Personal Attributes:
This highly demanding and challenging job calls for a professional with:
- High integrity, self-motivation, strong interpersonal skills and successful leadership of team working and business management.
- Strong and versatile negotiating skills, computer literacy, ability to approach and establish rapport with high ranking officials/high calibre personalities and familiarity with UN agencies (such as UNDP, UNCTAD, ITC, UNIDO, FAO), international organizations and technical co-operation agencies as well as deep insights and understanding of the Multilateral Trading Systems and Regional Co-operation arrangements will have added advantage.
- A candidate with criminal or poor disciplinary record will not be considered.
4. Experience:
At least 10 years management experience in international trade operations with at least 5 years in Senior Management level.
5. Age:
At least 35 years
6. Remuneration:
PGSS 21 plus several fringe benefits including Transport, Medical and Housing.
